If wondering, these do fit the JVC HA-SZ2000 Live Beat System Headphones. I absolutely love my new Alpha Pads, which I installed the moment my new Live Beats arrived from Japan. Thanks to the Alpha Pads, these headphones have an elevated sound stage and you can't beat the everlasting comfortability. Well worth the money and investment. Thank you Mr.Speakers!!!!
while replacing them many times 1 of them tore.
i wasn't very careful but for this price i expected more
They fit mine: DT-990 Beyedynamic
I ordered these on a recommendation of a friend. I wasn't sure they would be worth it but they added a whole new level to my open back headphones.
They were a bit of a challenge to put on because the DT-990 have a more circular shape then the squarish shape the pads come in but if you stretch the leather a bit the fit snuggly on the headset.
They did create a more "closed" sound stage so if you like the "open-ness' of open back headphones and don't want that affected probably don't get these.
But if you have a nice pair of open-back headphones and you're missing the bass "umph" of normal headphones these pads are for you!
Also they are comfy!
I give it a 4 star because they're definitely comfortable, real leather and quality by the way it feels. Can't fit on my AKG K702 so I have to resell them on ebay unfortunately. By comparing side to side, they don't seem way better than the brainwavz ear pads which are half the price, can't tell about the sound differences though. Probably a 5 stars, but they don't fit my AKG, sorry. I do recommend them to anybody who knows they will fit for sure, but for the price, not really.
Can easily recommend these as perhaps the best pads available. Fast shipping aswell, took about a week from order to delivery in Norway.
I installed these pads on a pair of otherwise completely stock Fostex T50RP MK3 headphones.
Installation was relatively painless and took just a few minutes, although it did require some dexterity and patience. Once I had figured out how to accomodate for the "shrouded edge" of the new MK3 cup design, it was quite easy. The fit is perfect on these headphones, and the pads look great. They also appeared to fit just fine on a pair of AKG K240 that I fit them to.
Comfort is excellent, they provide more than enough room for my ears and plenty of cushion. The leather is never "sweaty" or sticky, although if your environment is on the warm side of comfortable already you may find your ears get a little toasty. I've only noticed this when the temperature in my house is higher than 77, but your results may vary.
These pads did change the overall sound characteristics of the headphone fairly significantly, but I found the changes to be entirely positive. Keep in mind, these are my subjective and unscientific observations. Bass response seemed to extend lower and be more full, resulting in overall better bass out of this headphone. The flip side to this is that it resulted in somewhat "boomy" or bloated feeling bass with some bass heavy tracks. I didn't notice as drastic of a change in the mids, though with the added bass they feel a little pushed back as compared to the stock pads. I also did not notice significant changes, besides maybe just a better, more balanced impression throughout the range. In summary, I prefer the sound of these headphones with the new pads as opposed to the stock pads, but it is different.
I feel that with some minor mods to the headphones to further shape the frequency response to my preference, they will be able to achieve a remarkable level of sound quality. When you take into account the price, it's even more impressive. I'll be using the MrSpeakers Alpha Pads from here out on these headphones, and will certainly be trying them on others as the opportunity arises. They are absolutely worth the investment, for any headphone, regardless of price.
MrSpeakers got my order out right away, and when I contacted them a few days later because I hadn't received a tracking # I received immediate, great service. Turns out it was just an email issue. The pads had gone out the day I placed my order and were on my doorstep when I got home, ahead of schedule. I highly recommend both this product, and company!
Starting from the quality of the leather, ending with the great sound quality those things provide.
It is really worth it, please do not wait, do not search different solutions, this is the one.
Thank you Dan and cheers!
Really beautiful pads. Works perfectly with AKG K550 (fitted in 5 minutes without any difficulties) and are a great improvement in sealing and comfort.
Thanks for the Alpha Pads. A nice improvement for my Hifiman HE-500.. Looks good, feels good, sounds good. With best regards from Munich, Germany.
I own a pair of HiFiMan He-500's, and these pads are literally the best things that have ever happened to them. Of course, they're not specifically made for these headphones but with a tiny bit of work you can put them on and they are 200% more comfortable to wear. I literally look forward to wearing them now because of the comfort, with no negatives on sound stage/quality.
These top everything, even the Focus Pads that some others rave about, because they're so soft and cushy. My number one reason for getting them though is because they're taller, and more oval shaped (like normal ears) so they fit perfectly around the ear. If you're ever looking for headphone pads and these fit, for the love of god get them. You'll miss out if you don't.
Fits Beyerdynamic DT150/DT190 pretty well. Harder to get them on than the stock pads as the earcups are a different shape, but entirely possible by hand.
Comfort is equal/marginally worse than stock (surprising given that stock is not real leather), but the improvement in bass impact and perceived separation is impressive and well worth the money.
I retrofitted these pads to a Hifiman HE500 after the stock pleather pads started falling apart, and the stock velour pads were extremely uncomfortable on my ears.
These pads didn't take long to put on - you re-use the plastic rings on your stock pads to mount the Alpha Pads on. Bit of stretching of the Alpha Pads to get them on but they can handle it!
Comfort levels are off the charts - these are seriously comfortable! I had to extend the earcup height a bit to compensate for the extra padding.
Due to the angled pads and increased distance from the ortho driver, it does give the sense of a "roomier" sound. My initial listening experience is that it makes the headphones sound "darker" and "warmer" compared to the stock pleather pads. The sibilance I used to have with some tracks seems to have been toned down considerably.
Definitely something worth investing in if your stock pads are falling apart, or you're not finding the stock pads comfortable enough. I suppose the added warmth and soundstage that comes with these earpads may or may not be for you!
These are fabulous pads! They work like a charm on my HE400's and took about 5 minutes each to install, no need for tools. They lay waste to the stock pads for comfort and provide a good seal all around my ears -- the wedge shape assures that, at least on my skull. I can't really tell if they influence the sound signature of the cans -- if so it certainly doesn't seem to be in the negative direction. Bass level may be slightly enhanced. The leather is soft and smooth; the padding seems to be a very cushy memory foam of some type. Dan was quick to answer my questions via email and was very helpful. Buy them and be happy!
I bought a pair of these to put on my Yamaha HPH-MT220 studio headphones because I saw them on a pair in a review. The HPH-MT220 is a very true sounding pair of headphones with the stock ear pads, but when the stock pads are swapped for the Alpha Pads, the sound and comfort levels raise significantly! My girlfriend wants them on her headphones after listening to mine!
The Alpha Dog work just fine on my Hifiman He-400 and look amazing.i think it sound better also..
Great deal for hifiman headphones with pleather pads..
This is top of the bill stuff, excellent material, extreme comfort and improved sound is what you get...just amazing and you aint getting better then this....period!!!
The Alpha Pads provide an absolutely amazing set of across-the-board sonic improvements! The most immediately apparent upgrade is to the bass range; the low-bass range is now positively Stygian in nature. The modded Fostex T50RP's now present highly-defined bass-pitch information with large quantities of transient slam, when called for by the music! The oh-so-sweet midrange of the T50RP's is left completely intact and better-intergrated/balanced with the enhanced low-frequency and high-frequency reproduction. The high-frequency reproduction now presents a immensely greater sense of air and ease-of-reproduction. The wedge-shaped Alpha Pads, which are substantially thicker in the back-end than the front-end, altering headphone-to-ear geometry. The middle-of-the-head soundstage is replaced by an expansive headscape that mimics SOTA loudspeaker soundstage presentation; Wow!?!? The Alpha Pads completely transform the Fostex T50RP's into a world-class set of cans!!!
Improvement to sonics (literally everyhing, whole frequency range, soundstage...) and comfort are just too much for words.
I have suffered with the t50 stock pads, tried sure 840's which is a marked improvement but the alphas turn your modded t50 into a world class can. The only thing the mad dog does not improve is the ugly, that won't go away, but if you place them on your head they magically disappear...like for hours at a time.
They are a tight fit the first time, just go slow and steady. OTOH they will never fall off like the sure 840.
It is very very cool of Mr. Speakers to make these pads available to the modding community. For less than 2 bills and a few days of modding and tweaking you have a world-class headphone. I've forgotten I own other headphones, they magically disappeared too.
Get the comfort strap too, comfort is then complete.
Thanks again Dan!
I feel these are a must have to Fostex T50rp owner. It's a huge upgrade from Shure 840 pads. First thing I notice is the improvement of the sound stage and instrumental separation. For those that don't want to believe this is possible just lift out the headphone cups slightly with your hand while listening and you will notice the change. The Alpha pads also have slight more highs than the Shure 840. These pads isolate very well and are really comfortable. My Shure pads tends to fall off rather easily but not these. I should mention that I'm using these on a set of self mod T50rp. Thank you Dan for making the Alpha pads available to us.
